Artist Statement

Run, walk, fly, drive... we are all on a journey.
Painting is my journey. Colour is my fuel, the brushes are my wheels.

It is hard to imagine a world without colour, and even more difficult for an artist whose inspiration
is fueled by the colours which surround her each day. Whether they are rich and vibrant, or soft and
tranquil—the presence of colour is quite powerful. It has the ability to alter mood, influence perspective
and create illusion.

My paintings are composed of multiple layers of paint. I use thick, uneven brushstrokes to create
a unpredictable mix of colour on the canvas. I work quickly, periodically breaking, to absorb the
progress of the painting and determine it's destination. I then spend plenty of time on finishing details,
and often incorporate simple lines to portray the final image.

When the destination becomes clear, the painting is complete,
and then it's the viewer's turn...
